The ECPMF Executive Board has decided to announce Andreas Lamm as the new Managing Director of the organisation from 1st January 2025. This position has been vacant in 2024, where Andreas Lamm has acted as the Interim Director. He is chosen for the job after an open call for the position.
“It is with pleasure that I can announce that our Executive Board unanimously together with the staff gave full support to hire Andreas Lamm for this position. He has been in the organisation since the launch of ECPMF ten years ago and very committed to it”, says Mogens Blicher Bjerregård, chair of the Executive Board.
“I am deeply honored to be chosen as Managing Director and grateful for the trust placed in me. I look forward to working with the Executive Board and alongside our highly dedicated and motivated team to support journalists in need, advocate for their rights, and help create a better environment for free and independent media. Together, we will foster collaboration, build on existing networks, and create new opportunities to strengthen our efforts. These are challenging times, but now more than ever, robust and independent journalism is crucial for the health of our democracy.”
Ahead, ECPMF has very important tasks as the media situation in more and more countries is getting vulnerable as more authoritarian leaders are putting pressure on free and independent media in Europe – both inside and outside the EU.
ECPMF, based in Leipzig, continues to strengthen its partnerships with key journalism and media support organisations across Europe. Through impactful initiatives such as Media Freedom Rapid Response, Journalists-in-Residence, Investigative Journalism for the EU, Voices of Ukraine, and the Feindbild study, the organisation remains at the forefront of supporting journalists. Additionally, ECPMF is working to bring together efforts to enhance its role in shaping European legislation on critical issues like anti-SLAPP measures and the European Media Freedom Act, all in service of protecting press freedom and empowering journalists.
