The October parliamentary elections could mark an important milestone for media freedom in the Czech Republic and the wider region.
In cooperation with the Liaison Office of the Free State of Saxony in Prague and Reporters Without Borders, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom will host a closed-door conference in Prague, a few days before the elections.
The event will examine how European Union legislation — particularly the European Media Freedom Act — can help strengthen safeguards for independent journalism. Journalists and experts will also evaluate the positions of Czech political parties on media freedom and the public’s right to verified information, while analysing the potential risks and opportunities these elections bring.
