Mariia Tsiptsiura

(Journalist from Ukraine, JiR in 2022)

“I am very grateful to EСPMF for their support during one of the most difficult periods of my life. Thanks to the programme, after the start of the war in Ukraine, I had time to gather myself and understand how and where I can move on. The programme provided Ukrainian journalists safety when they needed it most. In addition, thanks to the programme, I greatly expanded my circle of working acquaintances and improved my skills in journalism, which is important for my profession.

Working for many years as a journalist in Ukraine, it was very interesting and useful for me to communicate with my Western colleagues and exchange experience with them. In Ukraine, I worked for many years as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the largest daily newspapers in the country and it was very interesting to learn about the media building system in Germany, about their schedules and ways of motivating, as well as about the process of news coverage.

The programme has also become a great platform to tell the world about the crimes of Russia in Ukraine, about what is really happening in my country. It has become an indispensable platform for the exchange of news between Ukrainian and EU journalists.

I am grateful to the EСPMF team for their work, support and the opportunities they provide.”
