„As journalism is one the most risky professions and the risks are due to political conditions of each country, solidarity means so much to journalists. A statement by an organisation, a letter, a post on social media – any kind of support is welcome. Knowing that there are colleagues in other countries who care, who try to help; knowing that one is not alone is so important. I think the Journalists-in-Residence Programme is a very effective form of solidarity for journalists who are under threat or traumatised in some way. My stay in beautiful Leipzig coincided with the times of corona and yet in spite of the lockdown, it gave me the will and power to go on.”
